The perfect warm cocktail for a cozy celebration!

This recipe for hot spiced sangria is the perfect cocktail for winter. It's actually delicious if served either hot or cold. Since warm cocktails are not as common, this drink has some special appeal. Apparently, in the old days, before central heat was widespread, warm cocktails were quite common - wine, beer, or spirits, they were all typically consumed warm in the winter.

This one is prepared in a slow cooker, or over low heat on the stove.

  1. Combine red wine, white wine, brandy, orange, frozen cherries, frozen peaches, cinnamon sticks and simple syrup in a large slow cooker. Cover and cook on high for 1 hour, then keep warm on low until ready to serve. Ladle into glasses.
  2. If you don't have a slow cooker, keep these drinks warm in a saucepan on the stovetop over low heat.
