Gingerbread-Spiced Avocado Nut Bread

  • 1 cup ripe Avocados From Mexico mashed
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup softened butter
  • 1 ½ cups white sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2/3 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup pecans chopped


  1. Preheat the oven to 350º F. Grease and flour a 9-inch loaf pan.
  2. Stir together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in the eggs and the mashed avocado.
  4. Stir in the flour mixture and the buttermilk until well combined. Add the vanilla extract. Fold in the chopped pecans.
  5. Spoon the batter into the prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out dry.
