Avocado Jalapeño Cheese Dip

I am always looking for new ways to incorporate avocado into my recipes. This recipe for avocado jalapeño cheese dip is so easy to prepare! When preparing a cheese dip, I always start with cream cheese and a sharp cheddar. Then comes the creamy avocado! Some added jalapeño, cilantro, green onion and lime will add the flavors of fresh guacamole. Place the cheese dip in a nice bowl surrounded with your favorite fresh vegetables. It makes a great dip for tortilla chips as well!

Ingredients

  • 2 large jalapeño peppers seeded and diced fine
  • 2 haas avocados ripe
  • 8 ounces cream cheese at room temperature
  • 1 cup Sour cream
  • 2 green onions
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 full cup extra sharp white cheddar cheese
  • salt to taste

Directions

  1. In the blender or food processor, add 1½ of the avocado, 1½ of the jalapeño, cream cheese, sour cream, green onions, lime juice, pepper and salt to taste. Blend or process on high until smooth and creamy. Reserve the remaining avocado and jalapeño.
  2. If you are having a hard time blending, add a little cold water while the blender is on. Transfer to serving dish. Fold in the shredded cheese. Garnish with remaining avocado and diced jalapeño. Chef Notes

Dips, sauces or salsas prepared using fresh avocados are always best served that same day. If you must prepare it the day ahead, place a layer of plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the dip. This will keep the air out and prevent the avocado from turning brown.
