Sweater weather is here, and what better way to greet the cold than with a delicious cup of hot cocoa?  This easy 7 ingredient hot cocoa will keep you warm without the heavy calories. My secret ingredient? Cashews! That's right, I used cashew milk to make my hot cocoa, and before you knock it, you gotta try it!

Wait... Hot Cocoa With Cashew Milk?

Of course, cashew milk isn't milk at all. It's the result of cashews blended with water, and it gives you a lactose-free and nutrient-rich milk alternative. Most of us have heard of, if not tried, almond milk. I happen to like cashew milk even more than almond milk. You can make cashew milk at home or buy it in the store. And since cashews are rich in Omega-6 essential fatty acids, magnesium and potassium, they also give you a nutritional boost. Plant-based milks are becoming more and more popular, and options like cashew milk help you enjoy a more guilt-free winter treat.

Switching regular milk for cashew milk wasn't the only trick up my sleeve. I also swapped regular granulated sugar for coconut sugar. That gave my cocoa a delicious hint of coconut. If that sounds delicious to you, you've got to try this recipe for champurrado with coconut milk.
