Guasacaca (Venezuelan Avocado Salsa)

Serve this chunky dip with chips or use it as a side salad or arepa topping.

Yields 6 servings


2 avocados, peeled and seeded
1 medium tomato, chopped
1 medium onion, peeled and chopped
¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
2 teaspoons lemon juice
salt to taste
hot sauce to taste


Chop the avocados and place in a bowl. Add the tomato, onion, cilantro, lemon juice, salt and hot sauce. Mix, tasting and adjusting the seasonings. Chill at least 3 hours.
